I have a 99 Ford Escort SE 4D with 92016 miles on it and just today on my way home from work the gas gauge started going bad I think. It won't leave full and I haven't put gas in it since saturday I drove 65 miles today and it is still on full sometimes it will go down to just below full. I plan on stopping at the gas station tomrrow on my way to work and seeing how much it will take before it says full so if it doesn't take much then It's a false alarm. If it is I will delete this question if not could I have some info on any possible problems other than what I think it might be. Thanks

Sounds like the gas gauge on a '97 Escort I had. When the tank was full the needle would not move until several gallons had been used up. By the time it got to the quarter-tank mark it was almost empty. Not a big deal as long as I remembered to fill up when the needle hit the 1/4 mark

Maybe yours is a similar problem?
