I am trying to replace the water pump in my Ford Escort zx2 model and am curious as to how easy the pump is to get to. Does it require removing a lot of parts inorder to reach it? Or is it easy to work with?

Replacement procedures are below for your vehicle's water pump..



REMOVAL:
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Drain and recycle the engine coolant.
Raise the car and support it with safety stands.
Unfasten the splash shield bolts and remove the shield.
Loosen the water pump pulley retaining bolts, then remove the drive belt.
Remove the A/C compressor bolts and move the compressor aside.
Unfasten the water pump retainers and remove the pump from the middle timing belt cover.



INSTALLATION:
Install the water pump and tighten the retainers to 17 ft. lbs. (24 Nm).
Place the A/C compressor in position and tighten the mounting bolts.
Install the drive belt and tighten the water pump pulley bolts.
Install the splash shield and tighten the bolts.
Fill the cooling system with the proper amount and mixture of coolant.
Connect the negative battery cable.
Start the engine and check for leaks
