I have a RS2k MK5 engine in a MK6 GTi escort, never done the conversion myself and been having some nippy problems what hopefully can get resolved with your help

1st of all the rad fan doesnt work so It likes to over heat with city driving how do I test if the fan is broken and not the thermo stat, If it is the thermostat that is broken and not the fan how would I wire up a bypass to the fan until I can source a new thermostat ware should I run the feed from ect, rather on all the time than not atol the heating inside the car still works normal

2nd is how the rev metre works, Ive looked into this to why it doesnt work and found out the GTi uses 1 coil and the RS2k uses 2 for reading is it just a wire that connects to operate the metre?

3rd My main problem at the moment, the car keeps cutting out at low revs I either need to bump start it or sometimes get lucky and goes by the turn of the key but need to keep the revs high to keep the engine running

The car also doesnt want to move at normal speed anymore and has a differnt exhaust tone to it, sometimes very rarely everything will work fine after a kangaroo effect until I change gear and the kangaroo lack of power happens again

Ive changed the spark plugs ordered new HT leads and a new fuel filter I am also going to be ordering a Fuel pump but would like to know if it could be something else

Try running a temporary fused power and ground to the fan motor to be sure it works. If ok, it may be easiest to just use an aftermarket switch/temp relay kit to automatically turn it on, and it is adjustable so you can set it where you want it
Again since it is a transplant vehicle, you will need to know which vehicle the ECM and wiring harnesss are from, there may be a tach lead from the ECM to go straight to the tach, it will probably be inaccurate though, once again you may need to go aftermarket on this
If the on-board diagnostics work, scan the ECM to see if it has stored any trouble codes. Check fuel pressure with a manual gauge too
