1998 Ford Escort Radiator Fan

The fan comes on when the car is off. It shuts off when I start the car. I have put a new fan but it still does the same. Can you tell me how to solve this problem.

Did the car have the fan fault from when you got the car? If so I'd confirm at your local if the fan relay has been replaced with the incorrect type.
