1998 Ford Escort Problems getting fuel

Engine Performance problem
1998 Ford Escort 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My problem seems to be fuel or sensor related. I will be driving, and then it will start stalling out, like its not getting gas. I push the accellerator, and it doesnt rev up. When I turn off the ignition, it will start right back up and run normal. It was doing it occasionally, maybe once a day or couple of days. Now it is doing it non-stop, maybe every mile. I got the car scanned at AutoZone. The 3 codes it gave was P1131, P1132, and P0455.
I took it to a mechanic, along with the codes. The mechanic wont even look or listen to the codes. He said he will do his own work. No scanning. Said he will check to see if there was water in the tank. Then check fuel pressure, etc. Sounds expensive.
So what is your take on this?

P0455= Evap system gross leak detected, this is usually a bad gas cap. Start there and the other might take care of themselves, 1131 and 1132 are 02 sensor not switching and one is lean(31) and the other is rich(32). Try a new gas cap.

The problem did not fix with the new gas cap.

The other codes contradict each other, one says 02 sensor bank 1 sensor 1 learn, and the other, rich! Did you get gas at a different station? Contaminated gas is a possibility. If not, Check fuel pressure and 02 sensors.

After you check you fuel pressure if it is good then go back to your local parts store and buy a can of mass air flow cleaner and clean your mass air flow meter. It is simple you just unplug it remove it spray the inside down really good and put it back. Some times this will get dirty and not read correctly and the tollorances on the ford computer for lean and rich are a bit tight. Hope this helps let us know ok.

It is actually doing better since the gas cap. I had another problem which was adding to the motor losing power. It seems I have a water leak at the heater core. It never did run hot, but hotter than normal and when it did, the motor would cut out on me. I need to change the heater core. But other than that, now it will run rough at red lights, and sometimes it will jerk going down the hwy.

Like I said clean the mass air flow unit it is a very simple thing to do as I have already explained and it may make it run like normal again.
