Electrical problem
1998 Ford Escort 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

Yesterday my battery went dead, just prior to that happening the door lock remote worked on the driver's door and trunk lid. This is the way the car came, driver's door only. Today I had the battery together with a new Alternator and belt installed. When i picked up the car, neither the door lock or the trunk lock worked. I called the repair shop about this problem. I was told that having a battery and alternator replaced wouldn't cause a failure in the locking system. They told me that it was probably the batteries needed replacing. Is this possible?

Thanks for your help.

I guess anything is possible. I would try that, but if it doesn't work, check out this How To on reprogram a key / FOB.

Let me know if it helps.
