Brakes problem
1998 Ford Escort Two Wheel Drive Automatic 233000 miles

My car has many problems. To start with when I purchased my car, my blinkers and all of my lights worked. Well after driving it for a while, one night the blinkers just stopped working. Later on we realized that not only were the blinkers not working but the taillights brake lights running lights and tag light also wasn't working. We checked all the fuses and none of them were blown. Also, none of the blubs are blown eaither. Thats only my first problem. Secondly my car shakes when just driving it. It wasnt much I figured I could deal with it. Well with how hot it was yesterday I went to run my air & the car started to shake way worse. Then when I was about to pull out at a stop sign to get on the highway, the car working go at all. When I turned the air off, it went like nothing was wrong. Please help me I dont know what else to do.

Have you checked fuses under the hood? Also, the headlight switch should be checked because all power runs through there.

As far as the shaking, it sounds like it has a misfire. Has the check engine light come on?

Let me know.

I have the light problem fixed now its just the shaking. My check engine light is not on. The shaking gets really bad when I use my air, but why would that make the car not go at all?

The AC adds a load to the engine. It sounds to me like the engine is missing. However, I would think the check engine light would come on. Does it have normal power with the AC off?

If it runs fine with the AC off, something tells me the compressor is going bad and the engine really has to work to turn it. Are there any noises from the compressor?
