1998 Ford Escort Front Wheel Drive Manual 85000 miles

when I start the car in the morning it makes a sound at the right front. Its very hard to tell where the noise is coming from. could this mbe in the transaxle?

the transaxle is on the left of the engine ?? (drivers side) as you sit in the car
