Engine Performance problem
1998 Ford Escort 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 87.000 miles

Hi I have a ford escort 1.6 Finesse, when I rev the engine it misfires as I first press the throttle then goes okay, when driving and reving it feels like a misfire, it only happens when I put my foot down on the accelerator.

Hi the engine light has not come on, so I checked the plugs and they had gaps you could get your finger through, They are shot as is the air filter, I have closed the plug gaps and given the air filter a good banging and it has solved the problem.I have only had the car two months so it is going to get a trip to the garage for a service. Thanks for your help.
