my automatic transmission has these codes p1744(tcc solenoid) and p0761(shift solenoid stuck off) I can only drive it manualy, first, second then drive. otherwise it wont run. just change oil and filter, and nothing, add a little bit of lucas antislip and nothing. then i checked the computer for codes.

how are these two codes related?

can you provide a procedure to change solenoid "C"?

once removed how do i test it? and what else should i test besides selenoid?

pls provide do's and dont's, i don't want to have any mistakes, this is going to be my first trans. opened.

thank you!

Hello and thanks for donating

DTC P1744 : Transmission Slip Detected = No TCC Operation or Transmission Slips

DTC P0761 : SS3 Solenoid Failure = Improper Gear Selection

Does reverse gear work fine? Other than having to manually change forward gears, does the transmission seem to do fine with no slipping or noises?

In effect the reverse works fine, and there is no noises, once I get from 1st to 2nd and then to drive gear the car runs smooth until I get to the stop sign and start manually again.

slips a little between gears, I assume it is because i'm not supposed to drive it manually.

any help is welcome. thank you guys!

OK, so the solenoid is the most likely culprit here then. to reach the solenoid you first have to remove and disassemble the valve body of the tranny. follow the steps below which will help in removing the valve body and the solenoids. also i have provided a link to a great video on how to test shift solenoids.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24gkmDDV0C8

I know this post is old. However, for other people with the same problem I made a video on how to diagnose transmission codes P1744 P0749 P1740 P1742. I hope this helps someone solve their problem with low cost tools. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-2T4qyL7JU
