Engine Mechanical problem
1998 Ford Escort Two Wheel Drive Manual 88955 miles

Driving towards my home address, went to change gear, really load noise & clutch pedal hit the floor & stayed there - unable to change gear at all. Is this just a clutch cable snapping or could it be the clutch itself? Don't have at home service with RAC. Does this car have a cable or is it hydraulic? Thanks

Clutch is a hydraulic, single, dry-disc design with a Belleville spring-type pressure plate.
The clutch master cylinder uses brake fluid and shares a common reservoir with brake master cylinder.
