Electrical problem
1998 Ford Escort 109000 miles

Today i proceeded to start my car, the battery light stayed illuminated, while the headlights dimmed, no turning signals and no brake lights were able to be used and the car teetered on the verge of stalling. i am assuming either my battery is dead or my alternator is slowly dying. however when i hook up a meter to my battery is says its half full so it leadw me to believe its my alternator i just want to be sure before i spend the money to repair anything
