1997 Ford Escort Shifts hard

Purchased at 65,000, 10 miles away from dealer started dropping neutral, pulled stick, clear fluid(looked like pw steer fluid), dealer replaces trannie, but now shifts hard, I have to let off just before the shift for it to transition smoothly, all gears, decreasing slightly as I progress through the gears. THANX

With that in mind, I would recommend having the shift solenoids checked. That sounds like where the problem is coming from.
