Transmission problem
1997 Ford Escort 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual

My son-in- law has a problem with his transmission. He can start the car however he just can't change the gears. he has a manual transmission and has just taken the vehicle to Midas for repair. We jsut wanted to know how much could he be looking at in repair cost.

Hi:
I was hoping it was a problem with the clutch / pressure plate. It sounds like it is internal.

I can't provide an estimate until it is taken apart to see what is wrong. You may want to call salvage yards to see if you can get a good one for a good proce (with a warranty).
