I have had to replace the flex plate in this car twice and am getting ready to replace it a third time.
My question is why would it keep breaking around the bolts that attach it to the crank shaft.
Is there some kind of bushing that is supposed to go behind the torque converter?

If you meann between the flex plate and converter? No. Check the end play on the crankshaft, you may need a new thrust bearing. That would be the middle main bearing on the crank...end play is .004-.012, service limit is the .012 number.
