1997 Ford Escort airbag

The airbag alert beeps every 30 seconds or so whether the key is in the ignition or not. Do you have any suggestions on what causes this or what we can do about it? The car has not been in an accident and the airbags have not been deployed.

I have a 97 Escort and last year I got a letter from Ford Motor Corporation regarding a recall with the airbag. Ford recommends bringing my car and the letter they send me to the dealer for repairs free of charge. I have no time to bring it to the dealer with the letter since I do not see any problem in mine but maybe yours is the one that needs to be recalled. Try writing directly to Ford Motor Corporation and ask about the airbag recall.
