REMOVAL:

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
On models equipped with an automatic transaxle, remove the accelerator (kickdown) cable routing bracket from the block.

WARNING
When disengaging the plastic hard shell connector at the solenoid S terminal, grasp the connector and depress the plastic tab, then pull off the lead assembly. Do not pull on the lead.

Disengage the S terminal connector from the solenoid.
Unfasten the solenoid B terminal nut and disconnect the cable from the terminal.
Unfasten the starter motor retaining bolts and remove the starter motor from the car.

INSTALLATION:

Make sure the starter drive housing pilot diameter is fully engaged in the cover plate locating hole and that all mounting surfaces are flush.

Place the starter motor in position, install the retaining bolts and tighten them to 18-20 ft. Lbs. (25-27 Nm).
Engage the S terminal connector to the solenoid.
Connect the B terminal wire and tighten the nut to 80-120 inch lbs. (9-13.5 Nm).
On models equipped with an automatic transaxle, install the accelerator (kickdown) cable routing bracket on the block.
Connect the negative battery cable.
