1996 Ford Escort rattle noises

When my escort is idling the engine sounds fine but when i increase the revs a strange knocking noise comes from the left hand side of the engine near to the water pump. could this be a broken water pump and if so is it a big job to replace?

When it comes to noise and sounds better if you had it looked at by a trained tech and if its the water pump that making the sound replacing it require some expert to do so as it is driven by the timing belt and its recommend to be replaced together
