1994 Ford Escort cutting out

1994 Ford Escort Front Wheel Drive Manual 98000 miles

I have the above vechile 1.8i 16v.
After a short time of driving the vechile cuts out iam able to restart the vechile straight and carry on with my journey. It seems to be every time I start off on a journey, it went 3 days with out cutting out and then started again.

The idle control value has been changed as this was first diagoised as the problem the fuel filter also has been changed. Do you know what else could be causing the problem?
