1993 Ford Escort heater fan not working

The fan settings on my car have been working strange for a little while now. Settings 1, 2, and 3 worked fine, but setting 4 would stop working. Yesterday the settings would not work at all. What could be the problem?

Hey, I don't know anything about cars, just wanted to say, the exact same thing has happened to me recently and I was also wondering what the problem was. I think maybe it's the blower motor or perhaps could be a loose wire?
