hi, i have a 93 escort, that does not shift into drive or overdrive, all other gears seem to operate fine. no slippage, fluid is full red and doesnt smell burnt. It may possibly be shifting into drive but i cant tell. the reason i say this is i can drive 70 mph, i would think 2nd gear would be way over reved. anyway i am definetly positive it is not shifting into overdrive!

if u can go 70 then ur overdrive is good,if it wasnt u would hear the engine very high and possibly not able to go 70 .try driving the car at 45 to 50 then put it at drive and if ur car shifts and gets power then it means ur 3rd and 4rth gears r good.maybe ur engine is in very low iddle.good luck
