2004 Ford Escape windshield wipers

2004 Ford Escape 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic

I have tried seeral brands of windshield wipers and after they are less than a couple of months old they smear the windwhield in rain and make for poor visibability. What can I do?

Two things. Occasionally wipe the wiping edge of the blade when you wash the windows, and have the arms tested for the proper tension, might be time for new ones.
