2004 Ford Escape Ideling

I just got in my car - and the engine started racing to 3 on the rpms - and it is usually 1 - why is it doing th is?
last time I let it sit all nite and it was fine the next day.

I had the same issue. The dealer had to reset the computer and replace a sensor. Over all the repair costs about $400.

Make sure that the dealer checks the vehicle for bulletins and recalls. I found out that there was an issue with the acclerator cable as well.
