The "check fuel cap" light has come on in my 2004 Ford Escape. I read the manual and it said to replace the gas cap, which I did this morning. Now my engine light has come on. What else could this be?

Did you fuel up with the vehicle running? Make sure gas cap is tightened properly and then have the trouble code erased. Let me know if it comes back.

Computer problem
2002 Ford Escape All Wheel Drive Automatic

For the pass 2 months my "check gas cap" light keeps coming on. It all start right after my husband replaced the alternator on the truck. I have taken it several times and they are putting it on the computer and stating that it needed a new gas cap. I have replaced it 2 times now. I took it to have the truck inspected and it failed stating that the O2 censers or "not ready" could this be going out as well? I really need answers on this it is driving me nuts.

It sounds like you have a leak in the EVAP system. Craw under the vehicle and check the filler tube to make sure it isn't rusted and have a small leak.

Let me know what you find.
