My Escape has had clutch problems in the past, sometimes it shakes but tonight the peddle stuck all the way to the floor and had to be lifted with my toes and was difficult to put into gear afterwards. It had the clutch replaced from the recall a few years back. I've read about bleeding the line, and perhaps we will try that tomorrow-- any ideas on doing that correctly? I assume the clutch is bad, but it's worth checking for air first. How does air get in the lines, to begin with? Is getting a new clutch in this model super expensive?
