2002 Ford Escape Ball Joints?

I have an escape that is making a squeaking noise when i turn the wheel, or ride over speed bumps. I was just wondering what this might be, and about how much i shoud pay to have it fixed.

Front end need to be checked
and determine what is making the noise before an estimate can be given
checking it should be free in most cases
