Hi! There is a hissing type sound in the brake pedal area when the car is in park, drive or just idling. The sound stops when I depress the brake pedal. Brakes are not soft and there is no other sound in the brake area. Thanks, Christine

ps. I know absolutely nothing about cars.

Hi there,

This i feel is a leaking brake booster, the booster is a vacuum assisted servo unit i would have this checked by a mechanic as it is possibly ready to fail and this will give you a very hard and inefficient brake pedal.
