it was good idea to check the fuel line and I suppose you did not fine any leak. Your next move is to make sure The fuel injectors do not leak: Clean or replace fuel injectors.
Wrong ignition timing could also cause that problem, or a faulty gas cap. Recheck the fuel line fittings. Those are more likely to leak.
