2000 Ford E-Series Van oil pressure

I have a ford e- 150 when ever its started on a cold morning it knocks and the oil pressure doesnt register on the gauge until the warms for a minuets im assuming a worn oil pressure pump, or could be something less costly?

To find out if its the oil pump you need to check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge. A defective oil pressure sending unit will not cause the engine to knock-
