Check engine light on. The code read cylinder 4 misfiring. I changed all plugs and wires. Engine light off - all well. One week later check engine light on again; misfire (rough idle) when start up then fine in a minute of run time. Code read #4 misfire again.

Which cylinder is #4? I plan to see if the wire is not connected properly or plug loose or?

What else cold be wrong?

Thanks. Jim

Hi:
If you prplaced the plugs and wires, did you also replace the dist. Cap and rotor? Also, #4 is the forth one back from the front of the engine. If you can, check to make sure there is no arching going on when it runs rough. If you can check it at night in the dark, it will be easier to see a spark.

Let me know what you find.

Joe

PS: does your vehicle have coil packs on each cylender?

4th one back on passenger side?

4.2l, no COP; coil pack, no dist. And cap.

I had no time so I made sure all wires were tight and. .. For some unknown reason I decided to activate fuel pump several times prior to turning engine over. When I did this the misfire (rough idle) either diminished or stopped completely. Made me think a) fuel filter, b) leaky injector?

I'm learning. Thanks, Jim

Hi:
The #4 cylender is the 2nd one back on the passanger side.

Since it's always #4 misfire, you're right. It may be an injector problem with that cylender. You may want to replace that one injector to see if it helps.
