I own a Ford Econoline 150 van, an Explorer type, I have not had any significant issues with my vehicle transmission but I believe that it could be dying or about to die completely.

When I accelerate I can see the revolutions increase and my speedometer increases but the gears don't change at the correct times or speeds I expect them to.

I know I have a foot made of lead, I have to tickets to prove it, but I think my transmission is gradually going out.

The speed at which the gears change is very slow and when I stop, I am usually not moving before the vehicle starts down shifting itself.

Also when the gears change there is a significant amount of recoil as the vehicle goes through each gear.

In the last year I have had the transmission fluids flushed at Jiffy Lube, where I have not seen any issues with any of their work thus far.

Its helped a little but its still off.

I don't really have much money right now, but I have been told it could cost me as much as $2,000 for another one and more for the work to be done.

But I would like to know am I breaking it, is it dying, is it already dead, or did I break it already?
