1994 Ford E-Series Van idle

Engine won't idle til put in park. Starts fine but when it idles down it dies unles I give it gas. When I put it in gear the idle is fine. Manual says to disconnect the battery to reset idle but that doesn't work. Thanks for any help. 5.0 engine

Hi:
It sounds like a problem with the idle air control (IAC) or the throttle position sensor (TPS). First, however, I would have the computer scanned for codes. Most nationally recognized parts stores will do it for free.
