Yes my van quit so I pulled the distributor cap. I turn engine and rotor does not turn. I Pull shaft and all out and feel that the gear located in the crank case is broken. So can I drop the oil pan to repair this.

First, have you tried to hold the rotor and spin the gear on the distributor> It could be the roll pin or key broke! You could fix that yourself either by replaceing the busted pin, or the whole distributor.

The gear inside motor casing I can feel a piece of the gear missing.
what will it cost me to have this repaired

Depends if the cam needs to be taken out or not, may be able to reach thru the front...maybe up to 600.00 or so...
