Loud clanking noise when going over bumps?

I have a 94 ford crown vic that has a horrible clanking noise in the front end on both sides when traveling over bumps, but the noise goes away when braking. Please help me find the culprit!

Ford has issues with the swaybar links, they wear out, sound like the frontend is going to fall off. Check them out first, relatively cheap this is something you can do yourself if it is the problem, get a repair manual, Chilton, whatever
