I own a 1993 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor with a 4.6 liter v8 engine. My problem with it is that there is a hissing noise coming from under the hood when the car is running. I just got done replacing my vaccuum hoses, so I know it is not them. However, when I was replacing the vaccuum hoses, my hose that comes off of my overhead cam came unconnected from the piece of hosing coming from the engine. I was able to reconnect them, not easily mind you, but I do not believe that it was connected tight enough. My question is, can that fact, the hoses from the overhead cam not being connected tightly, be causing the hissing sound when the car is running? Further, if it could be the reason, do you have any suggestions on getting the hose that is running from inside of the engine connected tighter to the piece coming out of the overhead cam itself? It is really hard for me to get a hold of that particular length of hose, so I am really hoping that you have some ideas!
Note: The following is a description of the overhead cam hoses - (view standing at the front of the car) The overhead cam sits across the top of the engine manifold. Coming out out of the right side of the overhead cam is a small length of flexible hosing. Extending out of this piece of hosing is a hard plastic tube shaped in a slght curve. The other end of the hard plastic tube is connected to a long piece of flexible hose extending from in the middle of the engine that is really hard to reach!
