"guesstimate" to repair a stuck/bent valve on a Crown Vic PI (4.6L engine) (Ford suggests replacing the entire engine @$3200.00) - I suspect that's rather excessive!

Hello,

As long as there is no other damage. A gesestimate would be $800 - $1,200.

Are you sure it is a valve? What is the problem.

Just got the vehicle back from Palmetto Ford (here in Charleston). I had requested they identify the "Check engine" light problem- per them, low (no) compression on the # 1 cylinder, so they pulled the valve cover to check and found either a "stuck or bent valve" (their words) on the #1 cylinder. Since I don't want to spend their estimate ($3200) for repair, they put the vehicle back together, leaving the rocker arm (for the bad valve) off. The vehicle still runs, but I'm holding my breath (slightly).
