my air conditioning compressor and belt broke the mechanic put a pully in to bypass it and put the new belt on. he did not disconnect the battery and we checked the fuses and the car won't start. don't know whats wrong with it.

Look to see if the broken belt damaged the crank sensor or the wiring to it. It sits real close to the compressor. if it is damaged, the car will not produce a spark to start the car.
