Transmission problem
1993 Ford Crown Victoria V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My 1993 Ford Crown Vic has a loose transmission shifter. It will not engage into "Park" or "Reverse" and it moves freely between P and N. But it does engage into the forward gears, though. What could be the problem? Thank you.

There are 3 options to your problem.
1. Bolts have come loose at the bottom of the shifter column close to the firewall.
2. The bushings around the shifter housing are worn out.
3. The shifter housing is broken.
