The speedometer does not work

Okay, I don't know if it's electrical speedometer or if its run by a cable but before I go getting in to the car is it electrical or run by a cable' the car been sitting for 2 years on the ground so I don't know what wrong just got it running about 5 weeks ago and runs good just the speedometer does not work' any ideas please!
