92' ford crown vic, roughly 100,000 miles. My car has recently just started not turning over at all. Immediatly I got a new battery, since it was time for one anyways, and replaced the Solenoid on the fender. Still got nothing. Just one click when I went to turn it over, when it should be cranking. I was then told it may be the starter and to try starting it about ten times. I tried it over and over and on about the 6th try it turned over and I had no more problems for about two weeks. And then out of the blue it does it again. This time nothing is working. I cannot locate the starter to beat on it to see if the brushes are sticking.

any advice would help. You are my last resort befor I take it to the shop. Thank you.

Hi:
It sounds like the solenoid is bad on the starter. I would recommend replacing it. The starter is located about oil pan level and bolted to the bell housing.

Let me know if this helps. Also, if you want to be sure it's the starter, have a helper turn the key to the start position and check to see if you're getting power to the small wire on the starter.

If you are getting power, it's the starter.
