The plug looks cone-like, what if I tap out or just run the plug hole with 1/2-20 tap which is straight? Thank you

Cone like? Like the threads are stressed?

There are oversized plugs available as well as double and triple oversized ones.

I mean normally-is the plug hole could be run with its normal size tap 1/2-20, which is not cone? (Hole does spoil the plugs threads) Or no talk of cone here at all? Thanks

I'm not sure what you are asking.

IF the threads are boogered up, you'll need to use a gauge on the plug to determine if that is the right threads before you tap it out. I don't have a listing of what size it would be. A parts store would have one, as another option.
