Can't find the problem

I have a 2000 ford contour, with a four cyl engine and 91,000 miles on it. A couple of months ago the car started cutting off while sitting at red lights and stop signs. I took it to the shop, they said the fuel pump needed to be replaced. Since that time, I have taken it back to several shops and have ended up replacing the fuel pump, the o2 sensors, the camshaft position sensor (three times) and the catalytic converter. This car still will not operate. It won't go beyond 35-40 mph and still cuts off when I stop. What is wrong with it?

Has anyone tested the catalyic convert. If it not reving up or going pass 35-40 mph it could be that. Also has any one checked the fuel preasure regulator. If the engine is not maintaning fuel preasure all the time it will cut off. And last but not lest check the IAC valve (idle air control valve) it will cause a stalling problem. Is the check engine light on?

The cat converter has been replaced. The check engine light is on and the code that it is pulling is for the cam position sensor.

The person that installed the cam sensor. Did they use the proper tool for lining the timing up. There is a special tool for each set of vin #s. Try to starting the car, while motor is spinning over is there a RPM reading that will tell you if the cam sesnor is working.
