2000 Ford Contour Need to replace brake shoes

Brakes problem
2000 Ford Contour 6 cyl Automatic 120000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I need to replace the brake shoes on my car. When i called to get a price quote i was asked if i needed 8in or 9in shoes...how can i tell which one size is needed? I don't want to waste time buying one size and ending up needed the other. Please help!! Thanks so much.

remove the drum and measure it on the inside side to side if 8 or 9 inch
