My engine is overheating?

So my ford is overheating and I know its not the fan. My dad thinks I need to flush the fluid out. What else should I look for?

Hello,

An engine can overheat for variety of reasons.
Typically it can overheat for a stuck thermostat, clogged radiator hose or clogged radiator, faulty water pump, faulty cooling fan.
It could also overheat if there are significant amount of sludge built inside the system.
Does the engine overheat while you are at a stop and goes back down as you drive?

If it is the thermostat, then usually the upper and lower radiator hose will feel different in temperature. You will have one hotter than other, as the thermostat is preventing the coolant from flowing.
Sometimes the water pump can fault, by not moving coolant as it is designed to do. It can have a faulty impeller.
