I had to replace my oil dipstick because the old one broke. I bought a new one at auto zone but I think it is too long but I am not sure how to tell for sure if it is. It already leaks oil, so I really need to know my oil level. How can I tell if my dipstick is too long?

Are you able to compare it to the old one? Also, is the one they sold you for your specific vehicle and engine?

Mine has the same problem. While the engine is running, slowly push the dip stick downward. If you hear a clicking sound, back it off, if the clicking sound stops, your dip stick is too long.
