1999 Ford Contour grinding noise

Our Ford contour makes this grinding noise up front from the tire area while driving. It started when turning but now does it whenever you drive. We have stopped driving it but want it fixxed. Our diagnosis was a worn out CV Joint is this correct? If not what is wrong with it?
