1999 Ford Contour 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My Fuel Guage on my insterment panel started to stay in the Full tank spot no matter ihow much gas is in the tank, I have to guess how low the gas is. What could be the problem?

It's most likely the "fuel sending unit "or "gauge cluster" . The fuel sending measure the amount of fuel in the tank. It's also located in the gas tank And there pretty easy to replace. The gauge cluster is located in the instrument panel.

To test if its the wiringharness/cluster or the fuel sending unit.

To do so find the signal wire on the harness and ground it out on the chassis, if the guage shows Empty then that means the harness and guage is good, if not check the harness and guage.
