I need to replace my transmission for my ford contour. All gears are slipping including O/D off. I was wondering if I have to take the entire block out. Does the transmission drop out from the bottom or pull through the top?

Actually, you can take it out through the bottom. However, it takes just as long to pull the trans and engine. Some days I think it's easier too.

Thank you very much. Ive been looking for a haynes manual for my make but im in a very small town and some things are hard to come by.I think I may have to take out my entire block because the compartment in the contours are very small but I thought id ask if it would be easier from the bottom thank you again :)

You're welcome. If you run into trouble, let me know. Just continue onto this posting. That way, it will be in my email and I'll get back to you the same day. Otherwise, you may wait for a few days for a reply unless you donate.

Good luck, and let me know if you run into trouble.

Joe
