My car would not start this morning. Last week my battery light came on and stayed on for a few hours then went off. This morning my car wouldn't start. It acted as though the battery was almost dead as it tried to turn over. I poured Mountain Dew on the battery cables and finally it started however, my battery light and my ABS brake light stayed on until I had driven a couple of miles then they went off. My battery is only a year old.

Is the alternator checking? Check the battery voltage with a volt meter while the vehicle is running. It should be 13 volts or higher.

There is a chance that vehicle alternator may be defective. You first need to verifiy the charging system is operating as designed.
