ON MY WAY TO WORK THE OVERDRIVE LIGHT ON THE DASH STARTED FLASHING. THE CAR WAS MAKING A HIGH PITCHED WHINING SOUND. I PARKED THE CAR AT WORK. WHEN I LEFT WORK THE LIGHT WAS NOT ON OR FLASHING (NORMAL). ABOUT 5 MILES FROM WORK THE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AND THEN THE CAR STARTED TO LOSE POWER. I PULLED OVER AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES. WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR, IT WOULD MOVE FORWARD IN DRIVE, BUT WOULD NOT SHIFT. ALSO WOULD MOVE FORWARD IN 1ST AND 2ND. REVERSE WAS WORKING FINE. LOADED IT ON A TRAILER AND TOOK IT TO SHOP WHERE I DROVE IT OFF OF THE TRAILER. SHOP SAID IT NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION. DECIDED NOT TO REPAIR AT THIS TIME. WHEN TRYING TO LOAD IT UP, IT WOULD BARELY MOVE. WHEN UNLOADING, IT WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL, HAD TO PUSH IT. IS THIS DEFINITELY THE TRANSMISSION OR COULD IT BE THE TORQUE CONVERTER? HOW CAN I TELL THE DIFFERENCE?
